Hey Tim, that sounds like a real pain. I'm no winch expert, but from what I understand all you'd need to do is keep the wire at a 90 degree angle. So you'd need to look for a winch wire guide, which is designed to keep your wire from bunching up.

Appreciate the purchase and I definitely understand wanting to be more efficient, but the Dutton-Lainson StrongArm Electric Trailer Winch # TW4015 should not be hooked up to the 12V outlet as the winch needs a direct connection to the battery. This is to protect the electronics and wiring on your vehicle as that outlet is not designed to pull the power a winch needs and could leads to all kinds of chaos. view full answer...

Yes, the bridge/rectifier could definitely cause a tripped breaker if something has gone bad. if you are seeing burned areas this is definitely not a good sign and is likely an indicator that the bridge assembly needs to be replaced. The light might stay on briefly on your # 3802346 but it shouldn't be on for a prolonged period of time. What it sounds like is that the breakaway battery is pulling power from your trailer battery/winch battery. It won't overcharge it so for now it is fine but I don't recommend leaving it that way.
